The Toronto Youth action for Change (TYAC):
The Toronto Youth Action for Change (TYAC) program aims to reach out to 2000 black youth in order to strengthen their relationship with their community and help them become good citizens. The TYAC’s mission is to engage black youth in the Greater Toronto Area’s lifestyle by assisting those developing entrepreneurship and leadership skills for action and change. The TYAC will address the challenges faced by youth in the black community, such as crime, language barriers, unemployment, and poverty, in order to foster economic integration. The group will consist of youths aged 16 and up. The TYAC intends to meet youth in the GTA through outreach program under the slogan “Let’s talk.”

Through entrepreneurship and leadership skills, an integrated approach to today’s economic challenges aims to foster economic integration and inclusion of Canadian youth.
Keynote Speakers

The Honourable Kirsty Duncan
The Honourable Kirsty Duncan
Minister Duncan sat on the Advisory Board for Pandemic Flu for the Conference Board of Canada, and the University of Toronto, and has helped organizations throughout Canada and the United States prepare for a possible flu pandemic. She sat on the boards of the Indigenous Cooperative on the Environment, the Scottish Studies Foundation, the St. Andrew’s Society of Toronto, and the Toronto Foundation for School Success. She co-chaired the 2006 Fraser Mustard Awards Gala in support of student nutrition and, in October 2007, she chaired “Feeding Toronto’s Hungry Students Week.”
Minister Duncan is passionate about helping build resilient communities and taking action on climate change. She has helped provide food, shelter and education to Toronto’s youth, and served on the Nobel Prize-winning Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
Minister Duncan holds a doctorate in geography from the University of Edinburgh.
Minister Duncan has served as a minister since 2015 and is currently the Minister of Science and Sport.

The Honourable Bill Blair
The Honourable Bill Blair
Minister Blair has demonstrated his ability to unite and engage others through his numerous roles in provincial, national, and international policing forums. He served as President of both the Ontario and Canadian Associations of Chiefs of Police, receiving the distinction of Commander of the Order of Merit of the Police Forces. He was honoured in 2013 by the Canadian Tamil Congress for his leadership and tremendous service to the people of Toronto.

Minister Blair is dedicated to many social causes, having worked with some of Toronto’s most respected organizations, such as Covenant House, the United Way, and the Children’s Aid Society of Toronto. He is the proud recipient of the 2011 Beth Sholom Brotherhood Humanitarian Award. Minister Blair served on the Board of Directors of the Scarborough Hospital Foundation, and was Vice-Patron of the Good Neighbours’ Club, a day centre for older, homeless and unemployed men.
Minister Blair served as a parliamentary secretary from 2015 until 2018, when he was appointed Minister of Border Security and Organized Crime Reduction.

Mr. François is the financial advisor for the SylvenieLindor Foundation.His academic background is in Economics and Business Administration. He is actively involved in the Francophone community and works with several other communities in order to advance the interests of African-Caribbeandiaspora in Canada.

The Honourable Steve Anderson
The Honourable Steve Anderson
Steve has over 15 years’ experience as a senior litigation lawyer with the Toronto Transit Commission. Steve has extensive community Board experience serving as the former Vice- President for the Ontario College of Kinesiology, Board Member with Prologue to the Performing Arts, Citizen Appointment for Community Care Access Centre and a Citizen Appointment for the City of Brampton Task Force. Currently, Steve serves as a Director for Defense Construction Canada.
The youngest of six siblings and the only one born in Canada to Jamaican immigrants, Steve spent over a decade in the Jane & Finch community. He graduated with an Honours degree in criminology from the University of Windsor and a law degree from the University of Ottawa and was called to the Bar in 2004.
Steve was named by the Toronto Star as one of the Top 50 Jamaicans in the GTA in 2012 and acknowledged by the House of Commons for his community service also in 2013.
He is tireless in his efforts to build relationships, collaborate and bring people together to improve the well-being of communities

Desmond Cole
Desmond Cole
Desmond has been documenting social justice in Toronto, and has written extensively about the black experience in this city.
His work with the Black Lives Matter movement and more recently his successful effort to remove the Toronto Police presence from TDSB schools have pushed his voice to the forefront. Desmond has also worked to address housing, social support, integration, civic engagement and justice for youth.

Dr. Eric Pierre
Dr. Eric Pierre
He has been on the Board of Directors of The Chambre Economique de l`Ontario and other organizations. Since 1995, Dr.Pierre has been the representative in Toronto of his native country, Haiti, as Honorary Consul. He views Pierspective Entraide Humanitaire as an outlet for his philanthropic energy, a way to reach out to the voiceless and the disenfranchised children of Haiti. He wishes to sensitize his fellow Ontarians of the plight, the hopes and dreams of his Haitian compatriots and to impact their lives in a positive and concrete manner.

Amikley Fontaine
Amikley Fontaine
Amikley Fontaine is the Founder of the Fondation Sylvenie Lindor, a non-for-profit organization that He named after His late Mother: Sylvenie Lindor. Amikley serves as well as the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, an unpaid position that He has held for over ten years. Mr. Fontaine uses the Foundation as a platform to empower young black Canadians for economic and social integration as well to overcome linguistic barriers. Over the decades, Mr. Fontaine has advocated for having access to services in both official languages, Social Justice for Youth from minority communities and racial equalities.
Amikley has participated in several provincial marches aimed to protect Franco-Ontarian gains, including the University of French Ontario and the Ministry of Francophone Affairs. He continues to participate as well in many national debates. Notably on Francophone Immigration, Racial equality, anti black hate, Systemic Racism, and access to funding for the Black Community.

”Si je pouvais utiliser deux mots dans le dictionnaire pour me représenter ce serait : Resourcefulness et autonomie. Ce n’est pas par hasard que l’un des mots choisis est un mot anglais. La raison est que l’équivalent français n’est pas aussi fort.
Autonomie, comme tous ceux de la génération milléniale, je crève d’autonomie dans les différents aspects de ma vie.
Ces deux attributs je dirai sont essentiels pour ceux qui veulent se lancer dans n’importe quelle initiative, entrepreneuriale ou autres.

Mr. Hyppolite attended Seneca College of Applied Art and Technologies and obtained an Advance Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technologies-Building Sciences, a Diploma in Building Systems Engineering Technician, a certificate in Energy Management as well as in Building Environmental Class 1 and 2. He also attended an Advance Project Management certification program at the University of Toronto, School of Continuing Education.
Mr. Hyppolite currently hold a position as an Operations Manager and Project Managers at Landeck Properties Inc., a growing commercial real estate Management Company, based in Burlington, Ontario. For Over 7 years, he has been involved in the daily operations of buildings, management of projects, management of budget and contracts, implementation of Energy Conservation and Building Maintenance Programs as well as designing of various training programs for Tenants and staff.
Mr. Hyppolite is passionate about building science, energy conservation, sustainability and project management. Mr. Hyppolite is eager to share his experience related with the audience at the launching of the Toronto Youth Action for Change organized by Foundation Sylvenie Linder. He is also eager to share his insight on how minority workers can better position themselves to enter the labor market.

Gabriel Broderick
Gabriel Broderick
Attending the University of Guelph, Gabriel double majored in Anthropology and Political Science; Specializing in international conflict, cross cultural communication and cultural language shif .A former museum community education program specialist, Gabriel taught and programed at both the Aga Khan Museum and the Royal Ontario Museum.
Further, Gabriel has worked on political campaigns on both sides of the boarder, and is now the constituency assistant for the Hon John McKay MP of Scarborough Guildwood

His recently published book, “ALTERNATIVES” How We Delayed Economic Growth In Africa – And New Alternatives For The 21st Century, was inspired not only by the fact that he is Native African, but also by his constant interactions with the African continent as an investor. His book is an essential guide for the African Diaspora and People of African Descent as it is based on the African 21st century’s economy. Janvier Kakoko has contributed to several panels including the Research Festival at York University, the Mastermind Community at Glendon College, etc. Besides other brilliant speakers, he will present his research work at the TEDxDomills 2020.
