Programs for Haiti
Solidarity Toronto with children in Haiti
The Foundation has always had a close relationship with the people of Haiti. Solidarity Toronto with Haitian Children, one of our initiatives, was launched in 2014. Haiti has had its share of difficulties, and the Foundation is dedicated to working with the Haitian people, with a focus on children, so that they can thrive and make the most of their lives. Furthermore, we value our special relationship with the Haitian community in Toronto.
We have helped over 150 Haitian children, and from July to December 2021, we sent a humanitarian convoy to the country. We have also sponsored 50 Haitian children through this program so that they can attend school and have the supplies they need to learn. With the Covid-19 pandemic this past year, the needs in Haiti have increased, and we continue to do our best to assist the Haitian people in coping with the pandemic’s effects in their home country.
Francisque Fontaine Fund with Women Entrepreneur
The Foundation has always had strong ties with Haiti, as many of its members are of Haitian descent. A devastating earthquake struck the country on August 14, 2021. As a result, the Foundation has been assisting and providing relief. To assist the victims of Haiti’s earthquake, the Foundation, in collaboration with Perspective Entraide Humanitaire, organised fundraising efforts to assist those affected by the natural disaster. We would like to thank our team in Haiti as well as our team in Canada for all of their efforts in assisting the incredible people of Haiti.
This year, the Foundation launched the Francisque Fontaine Fund (FFF) for our Femme Entrepreneure Project in Port-au-Prince and Chambellan. With entrepreneurship programmes for women, this fund aims to revitalize Haiti’s rural economy. The FFF grant was awarded to approximately 32 women in order to help them start their own small businesses.
